Kargil Vijay Diwas
Kargil Vijay Diwas, is named after the success of Operation
Vijay. On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took
command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani
intruders. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every
year in honour of the Kargil War's Heroes. It was an armed
conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May
and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere
along the Line of Control (LOC).
The Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in the Infant Jesus
School. This attempt by the school authorities helped to
inculcate patriotism in the young minds of the students. The
guests who were present were Mr. Prakash (ex-army man). Mr.
Jagadish, the president of Karnataka rakshana vedike, Mr. Ravi,
who is the president of grama panchayat of Vastare. Mr. Ramesh
from forest department and soldiers and their family members.
Mr. Anand welcomed the gathering. Flag hoisting was done by the
guests. Few minutes of mourning was observed by all. Mr.
Jagadish, Mr. Ravi and Fr. Amar Lobo, vice principal spoke on
this occasion. The Kargil war heroes were honored. Soldiers were
honored by Fr. Amar Lobo and Fr. Anil Kumar. Saplings were
distributed to students by Mr. Ramesh, superintendent officer in
the forest department. The students performed dance on this
occasion and the program came to an end with the distribution of
sweets to all students.
